NYX Butter Glosses and Tanya Burr Lip Glosses

I am not a lip gloss girl, lipstick all the way my friends! However, recently I've been lured over to the gloss side by some popular new launches.

I thought I would just bulk both these products together and do one massive, glossy review!

NYX Butter Gloss

NYX is an amazing, cheap makeup brand from America. I wish you could buy NYX products in Boots and Superdrug because the quality and range of colours they have is amazing, but for now you can buy all NYX products from their UK website.

NYX's new Butter Glosses smell delicious and are not at all sticky. They are quite thick and as the name suggests, are very buttery! They feel more like a thicker lip balm than a traditional lip gloss, in fact they are very similar to the Korres Lip Butters if you have tried those. 

The big downside of only being able to buy NYX online is that you cant see the colours in person. I ordered 4 colours and I think if I had seen them in person I probably would have picked different shades, as some are a little light for me. 

I do like these but I don't love them and I think that's mostly to do with the colours I picked. For a fiver though, you cant really complain and I would definitely try some different colours.

Tanya Burr is a very successful YouTuber and Beauty Blogger. She has released her debut line of lip glosses and nail polishes which you can buy from Superdrug or Feel Unique. 

The lip glosses cost £6.99 each and I bought two colours, Afternoon Tea and Chic. Again I bought these online and didn't realise how similar these two colours were, until I saw them in person!

Now I will be honest, I didn't have great hopes for these. I do think they are aimed at a younger demographic than my 27 year old self but apart from the smell I was actually pleasantly surprised.

These were much more opaque then I expected, not at all sticky and in some ways I actually preferred them to the NYX Butter Glosses because they weren't as thick. My only complaint would be the smell. These have a very sickly fruit smell which reminds me of Fruit Salad sweets. I'm really not a fan and much prefer NYX's vanilla scent.

Not bad at all and like the Butter Glosses I would definitely try out more colours in the future! 

I cant say that either of these have converted me to lip gloss over lipstick but its nice to change things up every now and then.

My Favourite Autumn/Winter Blushers

Fun fact for you all, its still Autumn here in the UK. Next time I hear the standard "you can really tell its Winter now" I am going to advise said comment maker that they are factually incorrect. 

I think it must be an English thing, but every time you walk into the office in the morning you feel obliged to comment on the weather. "Morning, chilly out there" "Morning, did you have to defrost your car this morning?" ahhh the joys of inane conversation. 

Onto the blush!

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Warm - After searching what felt like all of North America to find this blush I finally found it in Rite Aid in LA. I don't just love it because it has little hearts all over it either! I love it for the warm red colour it gives my cheeks, that flush of colour is perfect for this time of year.

MAC Mineralize Blush in Gleeful - This is a really pretty dark rose shade with subtle shimmer. I do tend to reach for a lot of red toned blushers, so this colour makes a nice change. You do have to be careful though as its quite pigmented, use a light hand to apply this.

MAC Blush in The Perfect Cheek - If I made a top 5 blusher list this would definitely be up there. Sadly MAC have discontinued it but this is not a particularly unique colour and you can definitely find dupes for this. This is more of a pinky/brown and I reach for this when I don't really know what else to wear, or if I only want a subtle hint of colour.

NYX Blush in Red - NYX have a UK website where you can order from and I highly, highly recommend their blushers. For £6.00 they are a bargain and match MAC on quality and colour. They do such bright colours that you would normally only find from MAC or NARS for triple the price. If you are a blusher fiend like me check them out.

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush in Pink Ingenue - I have been loving Estee Lauder lately, they really do have some great products and I feel they are a brand that often gets overlooked. This blush is a beautiful dark pink colour that lasts all day. Out of all these blushers this definitely has the best wear time. I love the packaging of Estee Lauder, makes me feel like I'm Joan from Mad Men when I use it!

Enough blusher chat, back to filling those awkward silences with comments on the weather!

I was going to title this post Red Cheeks but then I imagined an unsavoury man, sitting in his well worn armchair stumbling across this post on a late night googling session and I changed my mind.

Anyway

Its no secret that I love red lips, I pretty much wear some form of sheer red lip everyday and I did a post on my favourites here but I am also a bit obsessed with red blusher.

I think red blusher looks beautiful, I love the flush of colour on the cheeks and it fits the whole English Rose look perfectly.
Now you have be careful when applying these, or you will end up looking like Prince Harry. You will need a decent makeup brush, not a horrible scratchy one! I have forced my mum to throw away her blusher brush before, to be fair it did have about 3 bristles left. You don't want a dense brush for this, as you only want a light application of colour. Something like the Real Techniques Duo Fiber Brushes would be perfect and don't be heavy handed with your application. You will literally need to dip your brush in the pan once and that's enough, I recommend dusting your brush on the back of your hand first to remove any excess. Finally if you do end up looking more Prince Harry than Kate Winslet don't panic, get your foundation brush and blend it over the blusher, this will tone it down.

NYX's Red Cheeks is the brightest of all the blushers, its also a cream formula so I would recommend applying this with a stippling brush. NYX is an American brand but they now have a UK website where you can buy their products. The pigmentation is amazing and for me they match MAC in terms of quality, the best thing about NYX is the price. I think this blusher is an absolute bargain for £5.50 and I can guarantee you that you will not find any other high street beauty brands with a blusher this bright.

My MAC Frankly Scarlet blusher was one of the first blushes I de-potted and as you can see by the giant hole in the middle of it, it went well. Frankly Scarlet started my red blush obsession, it really is beautiful.

Another NYX blush but this time in powder form. This blush is actually called "Red" but I find this leans a little more pink than red. I have been wearing this a lot lately, its not as bright so I can slap it on a bit more haphazardly in the morning.

Becca's Beach Tint in Watermelon is a multi purpose product which can be used on the cheeks and the lips. This cream colour can be blended out for a much more subtle look if desired. Word of warning, if you do put this on your lips you will need a lip balm as I find it to be quite drying on the lips.

And last but by no means least another multi purpose product, Stila's Convertible Colour in Poppy. Out of the three cream blushers this one is my favourite. Its a slightly darker red than the other shades and I love applying this as a stain on my lips. Its not as drying as the Becca Beach Tint and lasts all day.

I hope I have encouraged you to try out a brighter blush, I am a bit of a blusher fanatic and I don't think enough people wear it!
